In with the New, In with the Old

With the calling in of a new month, have you found yourself irresistibly drawn into the embrace of newfound obsessions? And when the obsessions become too much not to share, like clockwork, do they become the topics du jour that you simply can't resist discussing over weekly FaceTimes or glasses of whatever you’re drinking that night? Don’t worry, the feeling’s mutual.

Here are some current obsessions:

Everything Now

Everything Now follows a young woman, Mia, who’s recently gotten out of inpatient eating disorder treatment. Kickstarting her recovery journey into an outpatient setting, Mia is thrust back into the world of a 17-year-old, which means self-discovery, sex, and falling in love—all while navigating her eating disorder. For the first time in a while, it feels like Everything Now gets what it’s like to navigate life as a teenager. The writing is spot on, and the casting has assured us that we’ll definitely be seeing these actors for a while.

You can currently watch Everything Now on Netflix.

KELLY LEE OWENS

Kelly Lee Owens feels like a wave pool at night. Both chaotic and peaceful, you float with every track. As we navigate a world now where songs rarely, if ever, reach the 3-minute mark, it feels refreshing to listen to an album that feels fully done, with no skips in sight. You can play it while you work, while you walk home at night, or even while you’re getting ready—it fits every occasion. There’s truly nothing like declaring an album for the season, and KLO’s 2017 self-titled sophomore album is just that.

EBAY

Okay, so, nothing new here—literally. It’s embarrassing to admit how long it’s taken to make the actual leap into the deep, sometimes untouched spaces of eBay. I remember the first time I discovered its magic when I was about 10, and my dad and I spent hours outbidding people so I could get a Juicy Couture wallet. The second purchase I made years later was a signed postcard by Two Door Cinema Club (I had gone to the concert the night before and realized they were it). But after those two experiences, I embarrassingly fell off, only scrolling here and there, liking listing for vintage leather coats and glassware I didn’t need. Sometimes, however, it only takes one purchase to get sucked back in. I purchased a version of these vintage MCM wine glasses for around $20 bucks and just recently purchased a version of this vintage Gap brown leather jacket for $50 bucks. Whether you’re looking for a tailored coat to transport you into fall or a vintage Italian lamp that you’ll tell your kids about, take the leap and discover the magic that is Ebay.
