I stopped in Louisville on a road trip, and I need to find an excuse to go back

When one thinks of a fun stay in a hotel, Kentucky isn’t the first place that pops up. This is where we are all sadly mistaken. When driving back to Chicago from a wedding in Ashville, needing to find a halfway point to rest our heads, my boyfriend and I hopped onto hotels tonight to see if anything intriguing would pop up. We came across “Hotel Genevieve,” a modern, Wes Anderson-esque hotel beaming with color and elevated interiors.

We were told they had only been open for three weeks—it was fresh and crisp. We were upgraded to a corner room on the 4th floor.

Once we stepped out of the gold-colored elevator onto the Missoni-inspired carpet, I realized the vibrancy echoed through every detail in the establishment. The room. The BATHROOM.

I don’t think I’ve visited a hotel where the robes in the bathroom had this luxurious vitality to them. I set a plan to shower immediately and put them on post-dinner. Face masks in tow. Is there anything better than a good hotel experience? If you find yourself driving through Louisville, visit this hotel for a stay. You’ll leave kicking and screaming while dreaming of the blue-marbled countertops in the bathroom for days.
