Something to sip, watch and take authority on.

Poppi soda

A few weeks ago my TikTok was inundated with “grown-up sleep mocktails,” and almost all of them included Poppi. Growing up, soda was always a treat, but a treat you couldn’t even really enjoy because I was too busy thinking about my moms voice in my head saying, “wait, how much sugar is in that?” My relationship to soda’s has never been…healthy lol, but I’ve recently re-introduced them back into my life, and I have to admit, the healthy-ish prebiotic sodas are fucking fabulous. If you haven’t already, you gotta pick up a Poppi at your grocery story, but specifically the Orange or Cherry Limeade—potentially both if you have $5 lying around. They’re perfect icy cold, and honestly, probably amazing mixers (I haven’t gotten that far yet.)

true blood

Honestly, is there anything better than tv show about vampires—specifically one based in the south? cc: Vampire Diaries.

If you’re late like me, I recently started watching True Blood, a supernatural drama series from the later 2010’s that explores the complex-at-the-time world of vampires and humans coexisting in modern-day Louisiana. It’s kind of corny, but perfectly scratches that tv-show itch that nothing has seemed to be satiating.

TB picks up after the invention of synthetic blood, which allows vampires to sustain themselves + co-exist in the human world, tensions between the two groups still exist. This show unpacks a lot of themes surrounding sexuality, addiction, religion, politics, etc. and offers a slightly ridiculous but genuine look at the human condition. Also, Alexander Skarsgaard is in it, and ever since Succession ended I’ve needed something to keep me sane.

texting first

In the back of my mind I’m always thinking: nothing happens if nothing happens. I don’t even know where i heard it but I know it’s true. I used to feel so weird asking to people to hang out. like this simple task of texting hey, are you around this weekend? felt humiliating. Maybe it was the potential “rejection” which btw, isn’t even rejection lol, or the thought that maybe they’d have something better to do, but all to say, none of that was ever true. People wanna hang out with you, just text them. It’s really that easy, and sort of makes you feel like an active participant in your life, which is also cool!
